Troubleshoot QuickBooks Enterprise Autosync Fails

How to troubleshoot auto syncing fails

It is beyond the scope of our support to troubleshoot automatic sync issues. Auto sync can fail for reasons beyond our control, like IT issues. We recommend running a manual sync, if automatic syncing fails. Connex is compatible with other web based accounting systems, if you want to switch. Please contact us for more details.

Problem

You are unable to auto sync.

Description

You can run a manual sync and everything is fine. In Connex, go to sync activity and click the errors tab. You might see these messages:

  • Login to QuickBooks as admin and open the company file. Ensure QuickBooks is configured to allow syncing, if the file is closed.
  • Error 510 : While trying to Add Customer Smith, Bob. QB responded: Unable to return object.

Auto sync is usually fine, under these circumstances:

  1. On a local machine, stay signed in as admin with web connector on auto run
  2. QuickBooks is closed completely and web connector is auto run on a local machine

Action Steps

Here are steps to try:

  1. Check QuickBooks file path in Connex.
  2. Check if web connector uses admin login, if file is closed.
  3. Check if web connector can login automatically.
  4. Check if web connector has permissions to read and write data to company file.
  5. Check if web connector is running.

Solutions

Company File Path Incorrect

Autorun fails when you rename or move the QuickBooks company file, but fail to update Connex. During your initial install of Connex, our software notes where your file resides. When you close the company file, Connex uses the company file path on file to find it. It you change the file name or change its location, then auto sync will fail. Read this guide on updating the file path.

Allow Automatic Login

You must allow the web connector to login automatically. Check if automatic login is selected:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to edit > preferences > integrated applications.
  2. Next to Connex, click properties.
  3. Click allow application to login automatically:

Web Connector Lacks Permissions

If you must use a non-admin user, then you must assign special permissions. For more info, read this guide.

Web Connector Closed

On the bottom right of your Windows task bar, click the up icon. You should see web connector. If not, search web connector in your search. Click on web connector. If you click the X, then web connector cannot run. Never click the X always click hide.

Multiple Company Files Open

You cannot sync with company file A, if you have company file B open. Either open the proper file or close QuickBooks entirely. In your Connex sync activity log, you will see this error:

The application trying to connect to QuickBooks is not supported while multiple instances of QuickBooks are running

Remote Desktop Manual Sync Only

RightNetworks supports no auto syncing. If you use remote desktop, you can auto sync if the QuickBooks user is logged in all the time. For more info, read this guide.
