Getting Started with Rules: How do I write my first rule?

How to map fields and preview rules

What will the rule do?

In this example, we will map the QuickBooks item name to TestInventory, if the product SKU is 10001.

Pick a selling channel and order number

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the rules engine.
  2. Click add.
  3. Choose a channel.
  4. Choose the rule template map SKU:
  5. Enter an order number:
  6. Click next.
  7. Scroll down to conditions.
  8. Edit the condition by entering 10001 in the initial value field.
  9. At the bottom of the page, enter TestInventory as the value to update.

By entering an order number, you will see a list of fields and their values. On JMA1183, there are two products; 10001 and ConnexTShirt123. This makes writing rules easier because you have values to compare.

What I entered a value on the bottom of the page, I see an error that no matching data exists.

Go to rules engine and click accounting lists. Connex downloads your products, customers, and other accounting system data into our database. The value to update will try to pull a value from this list. If the value is missing, here are the reasons:

  1. You use QuickBooks Enterprise: Please contact us and we will populate this table for you. We are in process of using this table for QuickBooks Enterprise users.
  2. We did not download this data: Double check your accounting system and make sure data matches.
